Terms of Service

1. About CocoBucks

CocoBucks is a family task and allowance app that lets guardians assign chores, track completion, and award a virtual currency ("CocoBucks") to children in their care. The app is designed for family use, managed by an adult guardian.

2. Eligibility

• You must be at least 18 years old to create a CocoBucks guardian account.
• By registering, you represent that you are 18 or older and have legal authority to create accounts for any children added to your family.
• Children do not register independently. Their profiles are created and managed entirely by the guardian.

3. Your Account

• You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure.
• You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account, including any actions taken by children using a paired child device.
• If you suspect unauthorised access, contact us immediately at support@cocobucks.app.
• You may not create multiple accounts to circumvent restrictions or abuse the service.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Upload photographs or content that is unlawful, harmful, or inappropriate for children.
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or access the service by automated means.
• Use CocoBucks for any commercial purpose or resell access to the service.
• Interfere with or disrupt the security or integrity of the service.
• Violate any applicable law, including laws relating to children's privacy (COPPA) or data protection.

5. Children and Parental Responsibility

CocoBucks is a tool for family management. As a guardian, you are solely responsible for:

• The tasks you assign and the CocoBucks amounts you award or revoke.
• Monitoring a child's use of a paired child device.
• Ensuring that any photographs taken as task proof are appropriate.
• Deciding when and how CocoBucks points translate to real-world rewards; the app does not facilitate real-money transactions.

CocoBucks points are a virtual, non-monetary reward system. They have no cash value and cannot be transferred or redeemed outside the app.

6. Task-Proof Photographs

When a child submits a task as complete, the app may allow them to upload a photograph as evidence. By uploading a photograph, the guardian (as the account holder) grants us a limited licence to store and display that photograph to other members of the same family account. Photographs are never shared with other families or the public.

7. Intellectual Property

The CocoBucks app, including its design, code, and content, is owned by CocoBucks and protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, distribute, or create derivative works without our written permission. User-generated content (task names, photographs, family names) remains yours.

8. Service Availability

We aim to provide a reliable service but do not guarantee uninterrupted availability. We may update, modify, or temporarily suspend the service for maintenance. We will provide advance notice of significant changes where reasonably practicable.

9. Account Deletion and Data Retention

• You may delete your account and all associated data at any time from the app: open Settings → Danger Zone to remove your own guardian account or delete the entire family and all its data. Deletion is immediate and cannot be undone. If you cannot access the app, contact privacy@cocobucks.app and we will process the request within 30 days.
• Guardians may delete individual child profiles and their associated tasks and data directly within the app at any time.
• Inactive child sign-in credentials with no activity for 90 consecutive days are automatically removed.
• On in-app deletion, all data is permanently removed from our systems immediately. Email-based deletion requests are completed within 30 days.

10. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability

CocoBucks is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied. We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service, including any reliance on task records or point balances.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms as the service evolves. Significant changes will be communicated through the app or by email to the registered guardian address. Continued use of the service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

12. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-law provisions. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of Santa Clara County, California.
